February 15. 1574. In Lviv Ivan Fedorov published reputedly the first printed book in the Ukrainian land, The Apostle.

1919. The Ukrainian National Rada passed a law On Using the Ukrainian Language in State Institutions.

February 16. 1929. The first Week of Ukrainian Literature began in Moscow.

1994. Representatives of the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Kazakhstan signed a communique On Expanding the Contacts between the Military Institutions of both countries in Almaty.

February 17. 1919. The Direktoriya approved its Declaration to the Governments of Entente and the US requesting support to fight the Bolsheviks.

1943. The Third Conference of the OUN (Bandera) leaders decisively condemned collaboration with the Nazis and supported the necessity of the USSR’s fight against Hitler’s Germany.

February 18. 1966. The publication of the seventeen-volume first Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia was completed.

1972. The Council of Ministers of USSR approved a decision on founding the Simferopol State University.

February 19. 1992. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the trident as Ukraine’s Small Emblem and key element of the Great State Emblem of Ukraine.

2002. The first Ukrainian helicopter, Angel, was constructed, making Ukraine sixth helicopter-producing country in the world.

February 20. 1919. The Council of People’s Commissars of Ukrainian SSR approved a decree On Civil Marriage and Introduction of Registry Books.

1944. An address to the Ukrainian people was approved at the Fourth Anti-Fascist Meeting in Kyiv calling to fight against German aggressors.

February 21. 1919. The first issue of the newspaper, Kommunar [now Vechirny Kyiv], was published in Kyiv.

1996. During Ukrainian President Kuchma’s working visit to the US, an agreement was signed On Commercial Satellite Launches.
