Kyiv’s General Post Office has hosted a presentation of the postage stamp package Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky’s Insignia and Personal Memorabilia designed by artist Vasyl Vasylenko. The six stamps depict Bohdan Khmelnytsky’s belongings that fate has scattered across the museums of Poland, Sweden, Russia, and Ukraine. In particular, the great Ukrainian hetman’s saber and tankard are now the property of he Czartoryski Princes Foundation of Krakow’s National Museum; his gonfalon is kept at the War Museum in Stockholm, Sweden, the chalice for holy water in Moscow’s State Historical Museum, the mace in the Polish Army Museum, Warsaw, and the hat in Kyiv’s National Museum of Ukrainian History. According to People’s Deputy of Ukraine Bohdan Hubsky, chair of the Ukraine - XXI Century Foundation of Intellectual Cooperation, issuing postage stamps depicting Bohdan Khmelnytsky’s insignia will help boost this country’s prestige and arouse interest in the history and spirituality of Ukraine in the Universal Postal Union’s 189 member countries.
