The Prosecutor General’s Office has reshuffled the investigative operative group inquiring into the Gongadze criminal case. It was also decided to carry out a number of new tests and expert examinations. The office says that “since the genotyposopical tests and examinations conducted by German, US, Russian, and Ukrainian experts brought about differences over the identification of Heorhy Gongadze’s Tarashcha body, a new full-scale genotyposcopical examination has been ordered.” This will involve experts from certain Council of Europe member states. It is also planned to study again the so- called Melnychenko tapes in a country “that has an extremely high level of state-of-the-art electronic technologies and has not been earlier involved in studying these tapes.” From now on, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General press center, “all those wishing to render assistance in elucidating the circumstances of the murder of journalist Heorhy Gongadze are invited to call the investigative operative group leader at +38 (044) 290-80-34 and Deputy Prosecutor-General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin, who supervises the investigation of this case, at 226-27-36 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.”
