1906: The first issue of the Russian-language Ukrainian political journal Ukrainsky vestnik comes off the presses in St. Petersburg.

1919: The First All-Ukrainian Congress of Trade Unions opens in Kharkiv.

1919: Poltava Art Museum is launched.

1933: The Three-Man Tribunal of the State Political Department of the Ukrainian SSR hears the case of the so-called Ukrainian branch of the subversive organization at the People’s Commissariat for Land Affairs and sentences four members to death.

1957: The Council of Ministers of the USSR and the CC of the CPSU adopt a decree on a shorter workday for the by-product coke industry.

1974: Construction teams start being dispatched to the Baikal-Amur Railroad Project.

1995: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts the first national award — the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky.
