The Day has already written that the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS) conducted a special survey of the quality of communication between Ukrainian parents and children last June and July. The poll revealed that almost a fourth of Ukrainian children aged 10 to 16 lacked a contact with their own parents. The children expect their parents to show mutual understanding and respect, while parents demand that children obey them. The problem of emotional contact is especially acute for orphaned children who — due to a lack of sufficient warmth — become aggressive and aware that nobody needs them. For this reason, the singer Gaetana, Kyivstar, and Lavina Music organized a concert, as part of the charitable project “For the People, for the Country,” for 500 children deprived of parental care from 11 orphanages on the eve of New Year and Christmas celebrations. The concert became a brilliant fairy-tale show for children — with songs, dances, and presents. The stage simultaneously presented Gaetana, as well as boy and girl singers, including participants in the children’s Eurovision contest and the children’s ballet A-6, whom the singer-songwriter calls Children of Light. As a result, every song turned into a little theatrical show. As the last chords rang out, hundreds of multicolored balloons flew above the stage. After the concert, the kids were given Christmas gifts, such as sweets and toys.
