The Ukrainian fashion designer Lilia Pustovit has opened a trademark boutique named Atelier-1 in London’s Dover Street Market. The interior of this atelier was designed by the Ukrainian artist Pavlo Makov.
A special area was assigned to every brand name in Dover Street Market’s five-storied building. The carefully chosen designers - John Galliano, Alaia, Lanvin, Lilia Pustovit, Vladimir Podoleanu, et al, - were given an opportunity to create an atmosphere of their own on the given territory.
According to Pustovit, the London boutique is quite in the spirit of her Kyiv-based Atelier-1. The interior’s main feature is poster-like screens printed on a large-size glass canvas, which helps recreate an inimitable atmosphere, while Makov is going to do his bit in decorating the space.
“It’s good that Ukrainian artists can now contribute to promoting fashion not only in Ukraine but also in Britain,” Pustovit says. Incidentally, buyers from all over the world regularly visit Dover Street Market during the London Fashion Week. They first closely look at everything and then decide what to buy out of the novelties. “The promotion of Ukraine’s best designers and the presentation of their collections in Dover Street Market is a convincing illustration of the level of Ukrainian creativity in the world of fashion,” London designers say.
