1919: In Lviv the military delegation of the Ukrainian National Republic, led by General Serhii Delvig, signs an armistice with Poland, which establishes a demarcation line between the warring sides (the Delvig lines).

June 21 1943: Winnipeg hosts the first Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

1991. The World Congress of Ukrainian Political Prisoners convenes in Kyiv.

1941: Nazi Germany’s attack on the Soviet Union launches the so- called “Great Patriotic War.”

1941: The heroic defence of Brest Fortress begins.

June 23 1990: As part of the resettlement campaign, Crimean Tatars begin settling in the first village of the Crimean oblast, Ukrainian SSR.

2001: Pope John Paul II arrives in Ukraine and visits Kyiv and Lviv.

June 24 1934: Soviet Ukraine’s top-level state and party institutions are transferred from Kharkiv to Kyiv, which becomes the new capital.

1941: President Franklin D. Roosevelt declares that the US government is prepared to aid the Soviet Union in its war against Nazi Germany.

June 25 Ukrainian Customs Service Day

1992: The All-Ukraine Orthodox Council resolves to unite the Ukrainian Orthodox and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church into a single Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate.
