The Women of Ukraine nationwide arts exhibition is on display at the Cherkasy Arts Museum. The exhibition committee selected 237 works of contemporary painting, graphics, sculpture, as well as arts and crafts. Together they make it possible to trace the development of the artistic process in Ukraine. Both traditional realism and new trends are represented in the exhibition, which offers a wealth of evidence of the authors’ interest in landscape, still life, and portrait.

Along with renowned masters such as People’s Artist of Ukraine T. Yablonska, Meritorious Artist of Ukraine N. Marchenko, Meritorious Worker in the Arts of Ukraine V. Barynova-Kuleba), there are also works of talented female artists of the next generations (V. Telychko, T. Fedorytenko, S. Kryzhevska, O. Potiyevska, L. Yuruyevych, H. Atayan, K. Hutnykova, Yu. Nosar, and others).

The works displayed are very different from one another. One feels the personality of each artist, her own view of the world and artistic concept. The exhibition’s participants demonstrated their ability to draw away from the daily routine, depict the surrounding world with its problems, contrasts, joys, and sorrows accompanying us throughout our lives, to interpret our native land’s history through the creative quest.

The works represent the artistic life of all Ukraine: Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, and other oblasts. Cherkasy oblast is broadly represented at the exhibition with 25 works by 20 authors, which yield to none on the nationwide level.

The exhibition’s opening was a real holiday for Cherkasy residents. Bright sunny still lifes depicting flowers, poetic corners of Ukrainian nature, and golden sunflowers graced the museum’s halls.
