Well-known Kyiv businessman and Verkhovna Rada candidate Mykhailo Brodsky, arrested on March 10 on rather vague charges of financial machinations, seems likely to be freed soon thanks to his likely election to Parliament. Under Ukrainian law People’s Deputies are immune from prosecution, and should his victory be confirmed the authorities have no alternative but to free him immediately.
