Number of victims of the typhoon in the Philippines has reached 230

Reuters, referring to the Philippines authorities, reports that the number of victims of the typhoon on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines has reached 230. According to other sources, 151 people died in Compostela Valley – the province of the Mindanao Island worst-affected by the typhoon. Another 51 victims were found in the province of Davao Oriental and 98 people are missing there. Most of them died due to flooding and falling trees. The most devastating typhoon of 2012 Pablo (International Classification “Bofa”) reached the coast of the Philippines in the early morning of December 4. Authorities evacuated local residents, more than 56,000 people had to leave their homes. There were reports that the wind reached the speed of over 200 km per hour. It should be noted that typhoons make landfall in Philippines about 20 times a year. In 2011 1.5 million people became victims of these natural phenomena.
