On the eve of the World Day of Health the festival Best Food Fest & Health took place at the National Sports Complex “Olimpiisky,” the country’s sports and culture venue. The event took place within the framework of a large-scale project “Healthy nation – strong Ukraine,” supported by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
The opening of the festival started with a greeting word and cutting a ribbon by Ukraine’s Minister of Health Oleksandr Kvitashvili, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Ihor Zhdanov, and the external relations director of the state enterprise “National Sports Complex ‘Olimpiisky’” Viktor Anisimov.
“It is pleasant to see here so many people who are leading a healthy lifestyle,” Oleksandr Kvitashvili turned to the guests, “Ukrainians are a nation of athletes, because there are many good athletes among Ukrainians. Ukrainians have strong spirit and I am calling upon you to take care of it. Everything you need is strengthening of healthy lifestyle habits and making it trendy, because only healthy society generates progressive ideas.”
During the day the visitors of the festival could go to a Blind Date with food – try various foods blindfold, learn about all the nuances of making dough of whole-wheat flour without yeast by Workshop of Live Bread, see a real farm with cows and goats, take part in a raffle where they could win gym membership and free consultations with nutritionist and cosmetologist. During the festival a lecture section was operating – 10 lectures were delivered by the best experts on philosophy of getting slimmer, recommendations of a business lady, how to help men go through crises, and how mothers can encourage their children to lead a healthy lifestyle. Kids could have fun at the children’s section with culinary and creative master classes, and especially active youngsters had an opportunity to take part in a quest with interesting tasks covering the entire territory of the festival. The visitors could buy natural and ecologically friendly production, cosmetics, and household chemical goods from more than 40 producers and shops.
At the same time a sports-recreation event was taking place at an open venue of the stadium. Here you could see competitions and exhibition performances from Street Workout, attend football and eastern martial arts master classes, play tabletop games, such as tennis, football, and air hockey, go on a tour across most secret corners of the sports heart of the country – the NSC “Olimpiisky,” roller skate on the country’s largest open roller rink, win prizes, and get presents.
