This is a story of a schoolboy Viktor, who through a mysterious portal gets into the past where he meets the epic heroes Oleshko Popovych, Illia Muromets, and Dobrynia Mykytych, and together with them defends an outpost from cumans, reportedly by FILM.UA.

The film is directed by Yurii Kovaliov, the cameraman is Yurii Korol. According to the authors’ idea, this won’t be a screening of the book, rather a feature film based on it. The script was written by another children’s writer Sashko Dermansky. The film has been supported by the State Cinema Agency of Ukraine too. Apart from the Carpathians, the shooting will also take place in Korostyshiv quarry, Teteriv kish, in Bucha, as well as a nature shooting area of the studio FILM.UA, where specially for the filming large-scale decorations of the outpost were created. So, we should expect a feature film for watching with family, which will be shot based on a wonderful story in fairytale-like Ukrainian landscapes. The film will be released in autumn 2016.

Incidentally, this is another good reason to reread (or read for the first time) the book, which in an exciting and dynamic way makes the reader interested in our history. Today it is more important than ever.
