This year, Malanka Fest will be held for the fifth time (the colorful and exotic celebration is one of the biggest events in western Ukraine). The forum gathers true fans of folk art from all over the country, as well as foreign guests. The purpose of the festival is to revive and preserve the traditional folk holidays. In the past year, the organizers decided against the festival format for the event. This time, active discussion and the following voting prompted the decision to start a thorough preparation for the 2016 festival beforehand. Recently, the organizing committee of the festival was gathered to assess the issues of proper preparation, including the necessary accommodations for the event’s participants and guests.

The event will take place in two stages: there will be a festive march through the city streets, and a performance on the stage. The most attention will be paid to the folklore-ethnographic motives of Christmas carols and the traditions of Ukrainian vertep. This year, the festival will become a charitable event. On it, the representatives of “Association of ATO Participants” NGO will raise funds for soldiers wounded in the east.
