Such decision was approved at the session of the Academic Council of the higher educational establishment. Larysa Ivshyna has been a member of the Monitoring Council of the university for more than eight years. Generally, not only do the newspaper Den and the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University have business contacts, but a many-year friendship too. Namely in this university (formerly called Volyn University) the first launch of the book Ukraine Incognita took place, an event that became the beginning and gave title to the future Den’s Library. The first visiting photo exhibit of the newspaper took place there, and the Den’s Days in Lutsk remain one of the most important annual event, a kind of a Volyn brand. Den’s editor-in-chief has given a master class for the aspiring journalists at the university, delivered a public lecture, and all new books published by the newspaper are launched at the university.

The honorary professors of the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University include Lesia Kostenko, Yaroslav Isaievych, Dmytro Pavlychko, Ivan Drach, First General Consul of the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk Wojciech Galazka, Myroslav Popovych, local lore specialist and founder of folk museum at Torchyn village Hryhorii Hurtovy, and other respectful and well-known persons. The ceremony of granting the certificate of the title “Honorary Professor of the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University” will still take place, and currently Anna LEVCHUK, vice-rector for scholarly-pedagogical activities, EU integration, and work with students has expressed the opinions of the members of the Academic Council and the university community in general.

“For our team it has been a great honor to work with Ms. Ivshyna, for a long time she has been a great friend and inspirer of our university. We actively use a lot of achievements of the creative team of the newspaper Den she heads in our intellectual-educational work. Ms. Ivshyna is an example of a modern successful person who harmoniously combines the understanding of global tendencies and new Ukrainian priorities. She has always been sharing generously and in an interesting way the important facts, analytics, and prospects with the country that badly needs a quality intellectual product. We are extremely proud to have such an honorary, dear, and always stylish professor in our team.”

The title of an honorary professor of the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University was also granted to Oleksandr Motsyk, an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine.

Ihor KOTSAN, professor, rector of the Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National University:

“Both Larysa Ivshyna and Oleksandr Motsyk are people who have been working actively for many years to develop the Volyn university, they have helped in many interesting projects, supported many initiatives, actually, these are people who are working for the good of Ukraine. Modern youth especially needs personalities who can teach how to live and act. And these people are exactly like this. Our team is satisfied with the cooperation and hopes for its active continuation.”
