The forum will open with a concert of the Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conductor Herman Engels from Belgium. The program will feature music by Belgian composers and by Sviatoslav Luniov (Ukraine). The program “Contrasts-2016” will include 6 world premieres and 23 Ukrainian premieres of works by contemporary composers.
According to organizers, 30 events are planned, including the “Night of Contrasts,” “The Coffee with a Composer,” “The Lunch with New Music,” and a series of indoor concerts in the Philharmonic Choir School “Dudaryk.”
Famous composers are going to visit Lviv: Oleksandr Shchetynskyi (pictured), Sviatoslav Luniov, Sergey Nevskiy, Vytautas Jurgutis, Dmitry Kapyrin, Merziye Khalitova, Peter Machajdik, Dmitry Lybin, and Milen Panayotov.
Monographic program will be dedicated to the music of Philip Glass, Pierre Boulez, and Morton Feldman. Music amateurs will be especially interested in visiting the evenings of Mozart in Foreign Mirrors and “Ukraine-Poland: A Meeting of Young Virtuosos.”
At the conclusion of the festival, the Lviv Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will perform under the direction of famous Polish conductor of Ukrainian origin Roman Revakovych. The program will feature works by composers from Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine.
