Tragedy in Berlin

Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel stated on December 20 that the attack on a Christmas market in Berlin was a terrorist attack. She also promised that the crime would be investigated and the perpetrators punished “to the full extent of the law.” Let us recall that as of the morning of December 20, 12 people were known to be dead and 49 wounded as a result of a truck crashing into a crowd at a Christmas market in Berlin the previous night. German police believes it to be a deliberate attack. The individual presumed to be the truck driver has been detained. Law-enforcement sources of dpa news agency revealed that the man in question could have come to Germany in February 2016 as a refugee from Pakistan or Afghanistan.
