An annual Commonwealth Day service was held at Westminster Abbey on March 12, with Queen Elizabeth II, members of the royal family, British politicians, and more than 800 schoolchildren in attendance. “There is a very special value in the insights we gain through the Commonwealth connection; shared inheritances help us overcome difference so that diversity is a cause for celebration rather than division,” Queen Elizabeth said in a message. During the event, people, obviously, paid close attention to Prince Harry’s bride Meghan Markle, for whom it was the first official event she visited in the entourage of Her Majesty. The Commonwealth of Nations includes 53 nations that were previously part of the British Empire, and the Queen has led the organization for 66 years.
