There is a breed of dogs called American Staffordshire terrier, in short – staff. These are strong dogs, guards and hunters, and when necessary – can be good fighters.

However, misfortune can happen even with the strong.

In mid-February when the temperature reached -30 degrees Celsius, this miserable racked staff, not yet old fighter thrown out in the street, became one of the homeless dogs in a district of Kyiv.

Stray dogs let him in their secret warm shelter and even took him out to feed. The biggest mystery is how this exhausted and completely disoriented dog got into the premises of a company located in midst of a forest surrounded by highway and railroad tracks, and the main thing is how the underbred dogs felt and understood that this tramp is doomed to die without their help.

Volunteers picked up the homeless dog named him Myshko and took him to a veterinary clinic. They found out that Myshko is about eight years old, in good health, however our veteran is blind: there is a cataract on one eye and the other eye does not react to light. Probably it was a strong hit that caused this blindness.

In the early days after the rescue of Myshko from the streets one could write about him: “To say that your heart aches only from looking at Myshania is to say nothing! He is absolutely helpless, very fearful and nervous, he is afraid to trust people because he knows what to expect from them. He is all just a bundle of pain, tense nerves, and terrible grief.” Now, after two weeks of being among caring people he turned into a very pretty, touching, and affectionate dog even though he was deprived of love and attention in the past. He loves when someone scratches him, he is trained to go out for walks, and in the street he walks closely and constantly watches for the maintainer not to go too far. He is not aggressive, is very active and will win the heart of anyone who would spend a minute with him because he needs contact with people badly and will appreciate attention paid to him.

Volunteers believe that Myshania will soon find his new home, will become the favorite pet, and will forget all the sorrows, troubles, offense, human betrayal, and his still timid heart will find confidence in the fact that he would never again have to face violent attacks of life.

If you need a guard and a friend, if you are willing to give shelter for this wonderful dog, please, call: 063 143 43 33 (Anton), 063 818 40 20 (Ira), 050 444 90 03 (Svitlana).
