1919: The Third All-Ukrainian Congress of Soviets convenes in Kyiv and adopts the first constitution of Soviet Ukraine.
1939: A monument to Taras Shevchenko is unveiled in Kyiv, in commemoration of the great Ukrainian poet’s 125th anniversary.
1942: The Nazi occupation authority embarks on the first large-scale manpower transfer operation, sending trainloads of men and women from Ukraine to the Third Reich.
1944: The Radnarkom of the Ukrainian SSR and the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine adopt a decree resuming the Kyiv Film Studios.
1990: The Supreme Soviet of the USSR passes the Soviet property bill, proclaiming, for the first time in Soviet history, the equality before the law of all kinds of ownership, including foreign and private property.
1991: The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registers the National Olympic Committee (chaired by Valerii Borzov).
