“The world of my dreamings and dreams” exhibition is an intimate poetic cycle of paintings by an actress-artist. Earlier, these canvases were seen only by a narrow circle of her closest friends. The retrospective of exhibited works represents different periods of the theater and film leading figure – from the early 1970s up to the present time. The exhibition has paintings and graphics, which are embodied in abstract pictures as well as in still lifes. The first paintings are dated in 1971-72 – these are, in fact, the pictures from the departed Yurii Ilienko’s films Night on the Eve of Ivan Kupala and White Bird with Black Mark.
“Several months ago, we had an idea to exhibit not just a famous artist, but to show the Kyivites the works of a light person. At once, I thought about Larysa Kadochnykova, though I have seen none of her paintings by that time. I just felt that this should be something as wonderful as all her roles in films, theater, and all her life in general,” says Oleksandr KOCHUBEI, director of the gallery and the actress’ good friend.
Oleksandr Kochubei prepared the exhibition personally. He says that the exposition was formed in one night. Though the Attribute Gallery is not very big, on the first day the exhibition was visited by almost 200 people.
“This is a completely separate layer of art, which Larysa Kadochnykova achieved through much suffering,” Kochubei thinks. “Everything that Ms. Larysa failed to implement in her film and theater roles, she reflected in her paintings.”
The opening of the exhibition was visited by Roman Balaian and Serhii Yakutovych, with whose father, Heorhii Yakutovych, Ms. Larysa worked during the filming of Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors.
“There were people who don’t flatter and who say the truth whatever it is. If Yakutovych says this graphics is genius, then it is really genius,” thinks the director of the gallery.
By the way, the exhibition represents the full collection of works by Larysa Kadochnykova, which is about 80 paintings. However, according to Kochubei, it is possible that due to certain reasons all these works will soon go to Moscow.
“When we found out about that, we had an idea to involve a Ukrainian patron who would buy this exposition and gift it to the city. And the negotiations are already in progress,” assured Kochubei with hope.
And till January 15, 2012 we have the opportunity to see Larysa Kadochnykova’s exhibition in the Attribute Gallery (Shovkovychna st. 30B).
