A real ball with dancing, singing, splendid women’s dresses and men’s suits was recently held in the Cherkasy Regional Philharmonic. All proceeds went to the children’s needs. The initiator of the charity Christmas ball was the Young Community public organization. The event became a real entertainment, cultural and charitable project. More than 200 Cherkasy citizens took part in it. Accompanied by the chamber orchestra of the Cherkasy Regional Philharmonic, both professional dancers and party guests whirled in dances. Everyone adhered to the strict dress code: men were in classical suits, while women wore dresses with fresh flowers on their sleeves. The guests were also entertained by the musicians from the Cherkasy pop-rock band Romance.
“The idea of the ball was adopted from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The Leopolitans sent me the project of their ball, which I then organized in Cherkasy. Unfortunately, we couldn’t sell a great number of tickets, but next year I hope for a larger feast,” said the event’s main initiator, the city council deputy Narek Kazarian.
As the organizers report, they did not aim to invite only rich citizens, but also wanted to attract as many young people as possible.
“I’m very pleased that there are people in our city trying to organize charity events. I’m glad that such a tradition as the Christmas ball is developing in Cherkasy, giving the opportunity to communicate and to demonstrate one’s dance skills. Thus I would like to thank those who responded to the invitation, who shared part of their love with others,” stated the mayor of Cherkasy Serhii Odarych while visiting the feast.
He also noted that the city’s community recently started participating in social events more actively. In particular, the citizens of Cherkasy are taking part in the “St. Nicholas lives in each of us” project. Its proceeds go to the needs of children, who are, unfortunately, bereft of parental attention.
The money collected during the Christmas ball will be spent, at the request of the school principal, to purchase a new powerful computer with a set of educational-informative disks for the boarding school in the village of Mykhailivka, Kamiansky raion, Cherkasy oblast.
