For three weeks, musicians from the US, Switzerland, Turkey, Poland, Romania, Austria, Germany, Israel, Norway, the UK, Belarus, and Ukraine will display their creativity in the Liudkevych Concert Hall of the Lviv Philharmonic Society.
The forum will start with an evening of symphonic masterpieces which will be performed by the Lviv Philharmonic’s Symphony Orchestra (solo parties will be played by famous American violinist of Lviv origin Solomia Ivakhiv). The evening’s program includes orchestral suite of music for Yevhen Stankovych’s ballet The Night before Christmas and classic works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Antonin Dvorak. Theodore Kuchar from the US will take the conductor’s stand.
For the first time ever, Lviv will see famous Ukrainian pianist Oleksii Botvinov and Turkish percussionist Burhan Ochal, who will present their project Bach. Reloaded, arranged in the jazz style.
The Tango Rendezvous International LVIV 2016 program involves Romanian American violinist Alejandro Drago offering his take on the history of tango. His performance will be accompanied by the Phoenix String Quartet.
Also, American Days in Lviv program includes a concert combining the best pieces of music produced for Hollywood and Broadway shows. The evening’s participants will include the INSO-Lviv orchestra and the Dusseldorf Opera’s soloist Natalia Kovaliova. Yevhen Kruk will perform violin solo.
Yet another participant of the festival will be the Vienna Opera’s prima Viktoria Lukianets, who is well-known to Leopolitans and will present the Schubertiada program, composed of song cycles by Franz Schubert.
World-famous baritone Pavlo Hunka from the UK has been invited to the festival as well. His program will include works by Ukrainian classics Mykola Lysenko, Kyrylo Stetsenko, Yakiv Stepovy and contemporary Ukrainian composers.
