The project “Documenting Ukraine: Theater” saw playwrights Georg Genoux and Natalia Vorozhbyt presenting their monodramas in London, BBC Ukrainian Service reported.

Both playwrights first visited eastern Ukraine as participants of the volunteer project New Donbas, and then began to go there on their own.

Genoux presented in London his performance Anyone Can Be Saint Nikolai, based on a documentary filmed in some Donbas cities.

Vorozhbyt’s monodrama Can I or Can’t I is a monolog relating the artist and author’s impressions received when talking to residents of the Donbas and Ukrainian soldiers.

Both authors stay in contact with the characters of their plays. They want to arrange a tour shortly for schoolchildren they met in the Ukrainian-held town of Mykolaivka, letting them tell from the stage how they ask St Nicholas to grant them peace.

Let us recall that Kyiv’s Teulis Shadow Theater showed a scene depicting the recent events in Ukraine at a TV show in Italy in December 2014. Their masterful performance brought the Ukrainian actors the jury and audience’s recognition and saw them reaching the final of the show.
