Funny and great in one

Local Cherkasy television is showing its own version of the Russian Yeralash
15 February, 2011 - 00:00

Short and funny video clips from children’s lives, with educational content, are being created in Cherkasy. The heroes of the program are ordinary boys and girls from the city, only with a picturesque appearance and joyful temper. Each program consists of three stories. The first issue of the Cherkasy’s Yeralash [a Soviet, now Russian, children’s show. — Ed.], named The Cheerful Pineapple, has been recently broadcast by one of the local TV channels, TRC WIKKA.

“On the eve of the election, a citizen of Cherkasy Olena Hahosova told me about her idea to shoot a film about children, or at least short clips resembling Yeralash,” wrote the mayor of Cherkasy Serhii ODARYCH in his live journal, “I liked this idea so I put her in touch with Liubov Pravdina, the director of the local broadcasting company WIKKA, having promised to join in later to support the project.”

People interested in the project were quickly found, even though the specialists involved were not from the TV channel. The production of clips was done by engaged Cherkasy citizens from the Denjozavr organization. They shot the first part of the program before the New Year.

“We have called the new TV project ‘The Cheerful Pineapple’ because the fruit evokes joyful, pleasant emotions for both children and adults,” said the director of TRC WIKKA Liubov PRAVDINA, “I’m very glad that specialists interested in the project were found in Cherkasy, it was particularly pleasant to cooperate with Olena Hahosova and the talented people from the Denjozavr union. Also, a lot of efforts were made by other engaged Cherkasy citizens. For instance, the music interlude was created by Dmytro and Yulia Cherniaiev.”

According to Hahosova, she started receiving mass appeals from parents requesting to register their children in the theatrical group, right from the beginning.

“For several years I’ve been leading a theatrical group in the Cherkasy school No. 17. While working here, I’ve noticed that our kids can act not worse than professionally trained actors. Now the parents come to me, and their children are eager to do this. Meanwhile, we’ve decided to limit ourselves to short funny clips, but we have also plans to shoot a full-length motion picture about children,” says Hahosova.

WIKKA TV is planning to broadcast the “The Cheerful Pineapple” every week. At present new episodes are being shot for St. Valentine’s Day. By the way, the television workers also invite talented kids who have a cheerful appearance and acting skills to take part in the program. The first issue of Cherkasy’s Yeralash may be seen on WIKKA’s official website.
