Jamala gave a concert on August 17 in the center of Istanbul. According to her press service, the famous Ukrainian singer, composer, and actress of Crimean Tatar origin, the winner of Eurovision 2016 performed in Turkey for the first time. The invitations have been send to local officials, residents of Istanbul, numerous members of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar communities in Turkey.
Susana Dzhamaladinova, also known by her stage name Jamala, presented our country at Eurovision song contest on May 15, 2016 and won with the song “1944.”
Now Ukraine is to determine the host city of Eurovision 2017. On Independence Day (August 24) it will be announced which city wins the competition. According to Channel 5, this was the statement of Oleksandr Kharebin, Deputy Director General of the National Television Company. Three cities are looking for the possibility to host the international song contest – Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa.
Incidentally, it was Istanbul (Turkey), in which Ruslana Lyzhychko, another popular singer representing Ukraine, won Eurovision 2004 with the song “Wild Dances.”
