The Association of Koreans in Ukraine, the Korean Cultural Center, and the Association “Koreans of Kyiv” organized the festival with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the council of the Ukrainian Organization of National Minorities.

Those who visited the Cinema House, where the festival was held, got to see authentic Korean culture.

Pak Ro Byok, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Kan Den Sik, the president of the Association of Koreans in Ukraine, and representatives of Ukraine’s cultural, political and business elites attended the event.

“Opening our 15th festival we aim not only to gather our compatriots together, but also tell the citizens of Ukraine about our country, people, and traditions,” said Kan Den Sik.

“We want to establish social and cultural relations between Ukraine and Korea, and strengthen relations between business representatives of both countries.

“I’m sure Ukrainians will be interested in learning about the culture, customs, and worldview of the Korean people.”

A presentation of national Korean cuisine took place during the festival, and a demonstration of traditional Korean attire — hanbok — was held.

A gala concert with the participation of groups from Korea and Ukraine gave zest to the event.

As it is known, the first All-Ukrainian festival of Korean culture and arts took place in 1995 in Kyiv.

Since then it was held in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Chernivtsi, Simferopol and other big cities of Ukraine.

The festival is held in the capital of Ukraine once in five years.

Koreans from Ukraine, Russia, Korea, the USA and other countries visit the forum.

The festival includes photo exhibits, Korean cinema weeks, fashion shows and other social and cultural activities.

Every year the festival is actively supported by local authorities and different public organizations.
