International orchestra of talented young musicians I, CULTURE Orchestra will give the final concert at the National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine on September 4. The concert will be held within the framework of the European concert tour under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski. I, CULTURE Orchestra is a unique project of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute aimed at bringing together talented young people from Poland and the countries of the Eastern Partnership. Currently, there are 99 musicians in the orchestra aged from 18 to 28, who have been carefully selected in two stages of audition, including 19 talented musicians from Ukraine.
This year, the new composition of the I, CULTURE Orchestra performs under the direction of famous Ukrainian maestro Kyrylo Karabyts (The Day has already reported that he recently received an honorary award – “Conductor of the Year” from the Royal Philharmonic Society).
“For an orchestra of young musicians you need a totally different type of conducting,” said Kyrylo Karabyts. “Young musicians are very enthusiastic about creation of music and life in general, that is why they need to learn how to use their energy. I can help them to achieve the high level of performance, and it is always interesting for a conductor…”
The new program of the orchestra, apart from Kyiv, has already been presented in Gdansk, Reykjavik, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, and Tallinn. The musicians perform the symphonic ballad Grazyna by Borys Liatoshynsky, Piano Concerto No.1 by Sergei Prokofiev, The Concerto for Orchestra by Bela Bartok, and works by Witold Lutoslawski (soloist Khatia Buniatishvili, piano).
