June 11 through July 10 well-known Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Budnikov is presenting in Bottega Gallery a new series of graphic works he created on his last stay in Yalta. In the project “My Crimea – our Crimea” the author reconsiders his works a year later, after the fatal events on the territory of the Crimea:
“From today’s distance I observe with pain how my pictures have acquired new senses. The delusiveness the pencil creates on paper has turned real landscapes into phantoms. Paradoxically, when you come closer and peep into the landscape, it does not make the pictures more material, on the contrary, it makes the landscape subtler, turns it into a ghost, a fog.”

Yalta landscapes recreated with pencil and ink on paper became by far the only witness of the suddenly lost paradise which has turned into a “forbidden space” as a result of invisible and apparent “grabbing of reality.”
