Spring: Kyiv Steps Onto the Catwalk

15 April, 2003 - 00:00

April 18-20 Ukraine will host for the first time the Kyiv Catwalk International Fashion Festival. Unlike the Fashion Seasons where the already popular Ukrainian designers display their collections, the new festival will give a chance to so far little known trademarks, fashion ateliers, fashion houses, and textile fabric producers. Simultaneously, designers who need less publicity, if any, will also take part in the festival: Olha Hromova, Viktor Anisimov, Oksana Karavanska, and virtually all the other permanent participants of the Fashion Seasons Ukrainian pret-a-porter weeks. The festival’s schedule envisages actors’ performances and master classes. One of them will probably be conducted by popular Russian designer Valentin Yudashkin, who will also demonstrate his haute couture collection and his Fashion Theater. It must be interesting to compare his show with the one Kyivans have already seen at the Ukrainian House where recently the French Cherrera Fashion House and Ukrainian Hapchuk displayed their works. The final show featuring collections by renowned designers, gala concert, and awards ceremony, will take part April 20 at the Ukraine National Palace. To add colors to the performance, its organizers, the Textile-Contact Association, took extraordinary steps. For example, a catwalk extending to the auditorium will be erected in the Ukraine Palace.

The finals of the Fashion Seasons: Look Into the Future Fourth National Contest will also be held as a part of the Kyiv Catwalk International Festival, with Serhiy Byzov heading the jury as usual.
