“Dzyga” gallery, Lviv, opened an exhibition of works by young people with disabilities from rehabilitation center “The Spring.”

Examining these pictures, one will never know that they are created by young people who have special needs. These paintings contain much of warmth, sun, love, and a special view on the world. There are a lot of abstractions and “alien” colors and images: a yellow river with white stains, the white sun, a miracle bird that resembles a snowman; there are winter and Christmas motifs as well as summer ones, such as this picture with large red poppies. Or take another one – like a masterpiece of a true artist, but that for some reason the clouds are orange and look very warm...

These paintings are created by young people aged 18 to 35, patients of rehabilitation center “The Spring.” This time the visitors have the opportunity to see more than thirty of such works. They were made during art therapy sessions, in the technique of acrylic painting on canvas. A steady grip on the brush for some of these young people may not always be an easy task, not to mention making a fine stroke or adding a color nuance, but these special people believe in what they do and want to share their talent. They believe that dreams come true, especially before Christmas, because at that time they were preparing the exhibition – and that’s why their paintings radiate so much light and warmth, and their hearts are burning with love for the whole world...

Art project “Those who draw by heart” will continue the display at the “Dzyga” gallery through January 28, and a charity auction will be held on February 4, where the pictures will be available for purchase.
