A photo exhibition entitled “The Orange Moment in Life” opened at the Ukrainian House on January 22 simultaneously with the press center of Yushchenko’s presidential inauguration. The exhibit, featuring 304 works by twelve photo correspondents from leading Ukrainian publications, is dedicated to the Orange Revolution, which marked its second month on January 21. The exhibition was organized by Viktor Yushchenko’s Ukraine 3000 Fund. Also on display were aquarelle paintings by the Italian artist Giovanni Rubino, who painted them while living in tent B-26 on Khreshchatyk. The photographs portray ordinary citizens who gathered on Independence Square to defend their right to choose their own future. Among the visitors to the exhibit were many local and foreign journalists, who can now express their views of the photo artists’ works on the pages of their publications.
Photo correspondents of The Day Mykola Lazarenko and Mykhailo Markiv contributed close to forty works. The moments of the Orange Revolution that they captured on film formed a large part of the photo exhibition. Some of the other photographers who took part in “The Orange Moment in Life” (Anatoly Medzyk, Anastasia Syrotkina, and Yevhen Savilov) are regular participants and winners of the The Day’s annual photo contest.
Last Tuesday the exhibition organizers displayed “The Orange Moment in Life” during the PACE session in Strasbourg.
