On Feb. 9 the Verkhovna Rada hosted a photography exhibit dedicated to President Viktor Yushchenko’s one year in office. The photos reflect the president’s political and public endeavors, visits abroad, official meetings, and leisure moments. On display are approximately 120 photos that were submitted by Mr. Yushchenko’s press service photographers Mykola Lazarenko and Mykhailo Markiv, both of whom used to work for The Day. Among the photographs are some that were previously featured in this newspaper, winners of the 7th International Competition “Photo-The Day-2005.” The Verkhovna Rada exhibit does not have an official title, but the photographs speak for themselves. Unfortunately, because of lack of space in the parliament building, the full collection of photos by Lazarenko and Markiv could not be displayed. After the photographs are exhibited in the Verkhova Rada, an expanded exhibit, following in the footsteps of The Day’s photography exhibits, will go to Ukrainian House, where it will be accessible to the public.
