For 13 consecutive years already Ukraine has had its own niche in the complex system of national fashion weeks. According to the general producer of the Ukrainian Fashion Week (UFW) Volodymyr Nechyporuk, this means that Ukrainian designers go beyond fulfilling their client’s orders and present their own views to the world. The 27th UFW will take place in Kyiv on October 14 through 19, with 44 designer brands showing their vision of the trends of the Spring-Summer 2011 season.
The real sensation of the upcoming UFW is that the renowned French couturier Stephane Rolland will come to Kyiv. The event’s final Le Grand Fashion Show will be organized together with the UFW and the international patronage organization Top Ukraine.
Rolland will bring to Kyiv his collection Haute Couture, which in summer this year was shown at the Week of Haute Couture in Paris. His collection will be presented on October 22. It should be reminded that last year the main feature of Le Grand Fashion Show was couturier Eli Saab, who also brought his new Haute Couture collection to Kyiv.
Other honorary guests of the UFW official program will include some of the most influential experts in the sphere of fashion, such as Mario Boselli, the chairman of the National Chamber of Fashion in Italy (Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana), and Ronald Denis, the founder of the company Global Fashion Management and a business trainer of world repute. Denis will hold a two-day workshop for the first time in Ukraine.
Hordes of fashion experts from Eastern Europe will take part in a roundtable discussion about the prospects and problems of fashion processes in our region. Another aspect of the UFW’s international context is that the international community will be able to watch all of its shows and designers’ commentaries, as they will be broadcast on the World Fashion Channel.
As for the peculiarities of the event program, besides the designer labels dear to any Ukrainian fashionista’s heart, Poustovit, Victoria Gres, nota Bene & Karavay, and the collections of ten young fashion designers will be presented. They will take part in the traditional projects of the UFW: New Names and Fresh Fashion.
The organizers emphasize that in the past years the UFW has acquired many new names. To underline their number and quality, youth fashion will be united into a special project, New Spirit, which is going to present eight collections. Fashion for men will close the six-day marathon.
In accordance with tradition, The Day will cover the events of the Ukrainian Fashion Week.
