92 billionaires to join Buffet and Gates

According to Gates’ statement, the number of billionaires who have supported the initiative of the wealthiest Americans Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, Giving Pledge, having pledged to give 50 percent of their wealth or more for philanthropy, is now 92. The statement made on Tuesday says that 11 representatives of US wealthiest families, specifically Director General of Netflix Reed Hastings and Chairman Emeritus of Intel Gordon Moore. “This new group brings extensive business and philanthropic experience that will enrich the conversation about how to make philanthropy as impactful as possible,” Bill Gates said in his statement. The Giving Pledge campaign was launched in June 2010. Several years later the initiative attracted nearly 40 commitments from the US billionaires. Those included film director George Lucas, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a co-founder of AOL Inc media company Steve Case, investor Carl Icahn and “junk-bond king” Mike Milken, the co-founders of the Facebook social network Mark Zuckerberg and Dustin Moskovitz. To join the initiative the participants should publicly confirm their intention to donate half or more of their wealth for philanthropy. The donations can be made either during the lifetime of the donor, or after his death.
