After the September 11 terrorist attacks, US citizens rushed to stockpile means of personal protection. And they turned their eyes to Ukraine. The Cherkasy Chemical Fiber Plant producing gas masks intends to supply 2 million gas masks to the US, which is ready to pay $20 apiece, and the $40 million contract has to be carried out by May 2002. Incidentally, a gas mask costs UAH 38 or $7.20 in Ukraine, reports Oleksandr ANHEL, Cherkasy.
