The Arsenal of Ideas starts in Kyiv on May 27

Organizers of the first interactive educational festival have invited Den to present its Summer School of Journalism at the event

The first interactive educa­tio­nal festival The Arsenal of Ideas will be held at the Mys­tetsky Arsenal in Kyiv on May 27-31. The organizers promise to gather in one place all the most progressive and innovative develop­ments in the field of extracurricular education. The festival will be held at several locations, including the Art Space where children will be able to participate in master classes and workshops of Ukrainian artists or try out as actors of the children’s theater’s or sand animators; mean­while, the Museum Space will present educational programs by 27 Uk­rai­nian museums. Children will participate in quests, play logical games, assemble various kits; they will also have an opportunity to see up close the toys once used by their grandparents’ generation. Readings, book presentations, and literary workshops will take place in the Literary Space. Children’s inven­tions’ presentations, lectures, scientific hackathons, and various laboratories will admit little visitors in the Science Space.

As part of the Arsenal of Ideas, Den will present its 13th Summer School of Journalism (SSJ). The festival’s visitors will be the first to fill out the questionnaire and take part in the qualifiers. In addition, editors and journalists will hold a series of master classes. For example, the interactive Den’s Tree of Knowledge will be presented at a meeting with this newspaper’s creative team, to be held at 6 p.m. on May 27; editor of Den’s social affairs coverage Maria Semenchenko will describe at 5 p.m. on May 28 the right ways for the journalists to cover the   Euromaidan, the ATO area, the military’s losses, and the socially important topics that the press should pay attention to now; a meeting with Den’s web editor Artem Zhukov will be held at 5 p.m. on May 29. Meanwhile, the “Convergent Media: Den’s Experience” presen­tation will be held at 1 p.m. on May 30 and see our media affairs editor Vadym Lubchak to tell how this pub­lication’s employees manage to simultaneously write articles for the newspaper itself, its glossy supplement Route No.1, news stories for the website, and videos for Den TV project. Common ticket for the Arsenal of Ideas costs 30 hryvnias, while subscription for the entire five days of the festival comes at 80 hryvnias.
