Borys Tarasiuk to Head a Joint Renaissance Foundation Project and Perhaps International Politics Center

30 January, 2001 - 00:00

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Borys Tarasiuk, dismissed four months ago by decree of President Leonid Kuchma, addressed the public several times recently in Zhytomyr (incidentally, he hails from Polissia). Speaking to the press, the former foreign minister said he had abandoned government and diplomatic service after a 25 year career as a diplomat. In his words, he has been offered no specific job since his dismissal and still remains unemployed and unsalaried.

Answering The Day’s question what he is going to do in the immediate future, the former minister said that, in addition to active participation in the domestic political life as a Reforms and Order Party member, he also has other plans. In particular, Mr. Tarasiuk has signed a contract with the International Renaissance Foundation to carry out a project to analyze foreign policy under his guidance. Also under discussion is the question of setting up, with his participation, an International Politics Center.
