Compensations Agreement Signed

25 November, 2003 - 00:00

An intergovernmental agreement was signed in Kyiv between Ukraine and Israel on settling the claims resulted from the TU-154 crash over the Black Sea in October 2001. The agreement specifying the size and procedure of paying out compensation to the victims’ relatives, was signed by Israeli Vice Premier cum Minister of Justice Josif Lapid and First Vice Premier of Ukraine Mykola Azarov. The agreement envisages renunciation from lawsuits against Ukraine from the relatives of the killed. “The sum is confidential and will not be disclosed to mass-media,” Minsiter Azarov answered the journalists’ question after the meeting was over. He also hopes that a similar agreement will be signed with Russia in the near future, maybe this week.
