As earlier reported by The Day, the Hryhorii Veriovka Choir invited the residents and guests of Lviv to the concert “For Special Children with Love.” This concert took place at the Lviv Opera, with the proceeds going to aid programs for physically handicapped children at the Dzherelo Center and the city’s rehabilitation center. At the beginning of the year the choir sent 17,000 hryvnias to the Dzherelo bank account. This money was earned during the choir’s tour of Germany. The concert at the Lviv Opera brought a total of 156,250 hryvnias. “This sum includes the cost of the tickets, donations from the audience, and sponsors’ help,” Kateryna Bilokin, expert with Dzherelo’s external relations department, told The Day. This center daily treats 150 children with cerebral palsy, other motor malfunctions, Down’s syndrome, autism, intellectual and speech dysfunctions, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and other afflictions. Daily maintenance of each such patient costs 90 hryvnias. More than 100 families with such children are attended by polyclinics.
