1921: The Council of the Republic, the then UNR’s supreme authority, starts functioning in Tarnow (Poland), only to cease to exist in August.

1929: The first Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists ends in Vienna to establish the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN).

1940: The Ukrainian Canadian Committee is formed in Winnipeg.

1966: Luna 9 Soviet unmanned spacecraft soft lands on the Moon and transmits photographic data to a control center on Earth.

1968: The first section of Ternopil’s textile works becomes operational.

1994: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine cancels reservations concerning START 1.

1997: Ukraine’s Nuclear Insurance Pool, a non-profit organization that unites a number of Ukrainian insurers, is formed to provide for nuclear risks.
