1879: UNR General and politician Mykola Kapustiansky is born.

1918: Troops under the command of Symon Petliura, Yevhen Konovalets, and Vsevolod Petrov enter Kyiv and suppress the Arsenal workers’ revolt, in support of the Bolshevik coup in St. Petersburg and against the Central Rada.

1918: Soviet rule is enforced in Chernihiv.

1922: The Tekstiltrest textiles trust is established in Ukraine.

1924: The British government recognizes the Soviet Union. 1930: A massive collectivization campaign is launched in the Soviet Union.

1945: Ordzhonikidze Tractor Works in Kharkiv launches serial output of tractors.

1963: An “eternal flame” is ceremoniously ignited at the foot of the monument to WW II fallen officers and men in Volgograd [formerly known as Stalingrad, originally known as Tsaritsyn].

1993: The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registers the People’s Rukh of Ukraine as a political party, headed by Viacheslav Chornovil.
