1245: Troops under the command of Princes Danylo and Vasylko, of the Galicia-Volhynia Principality, defeat the Polish-Hungarian army in the Battle of Yaroslav.

1914: The Ukrainian Liberation Council in Lviv resolves to organize the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen unit, made up of volunteers, as part of the Austro-Hungarian Army during WW I.

1918: The Hetman of Ukraine signs the law limiting imports of Russian banknotes.

1921: The [Bolshevik] All-Ukraine Central Executive Committee resolves to establish the central, gubernia [regional], and district famine relief commissions.

1932: Soviet parachutist B.N. Petrov jumps from an altitude of 5,200 meters.

1941: Soviet troops retreat from Mykolaiv after pitched battles with the Wehrmacht.

1946: A plenary meeting of the CC CP(B)U adopts a resolution on the “threat of Ukrainian [bourgeois] nationalism.”
