1918: The Council of People’s Commissars (Radnarkom) adopts a decree in Kyiv terminating the formation of registered “free” Cossacks.
1928: Radnarkom of the Ukrainian SSR adopts a decree proclaiming the Kamianets-Podilsky Castle-Fortress a state historical-cultural preserve.
1944: The Central Republican Botanical Gardens of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR are founded in Kyiv.
1952: The European Branch of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society opens.
