1919: The First Congress of Youth Communist Organizations convenes in Ukraine and forms the Komsomol of Ukraine.
1926: Ukrainian immigrants establish the Ukrainian Workers Self-Education Society as a cultural and educational organization.
1938: The first elections to the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR are held; 304 members (deputies) are elected.
1946: The Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR adopts a resolution on measures for improvement of public reserves and natural monuments.
1993: The International Congress of Ukrainian Students begins in Kyiv.
1994: Presidential elections in Ukraine show that none of the seven candidates has collected the required number of votes; the second round is assigned and this time Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma turn out to be in the lead.
2006: The Ukrainian national team gets in the quarterfinals of the World Soccer Championship for the first time in its history, beating the Swedes (3:0).
