1630: Ukrainian troops engage the Polish szlachta army in the Battle of Pereiaslav.

1924: The Soviet of People’s Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR adopts a decree on protection of the Ancient Greek city of Olbia.

1935: The Soviet of People’s Commissars of the USSR and the Central Committee of the All-Union CP(b), resolve to solve the problem of parentless and homeless children.

1946: Oleg Antonov’s aircraft design bureau is established in Kyiv.

1967: A new version of Hryhorii Maiboroda’s Mylana premieres at the Taras Shevchenko State Opera and Ballet Theater in Kyiv.

1979: Dmitry Shparo leads the first ski expedition (organized by Komsomolskaya Pravda) from Eurasia to the North Pole.

1989: The constituent assembly of the International Association of Ukrainian Studies is called to order in Naples as part of the International Conference on Problems and Prospects of Ukrainian Culture.
