1657: Swedish envoys arrive in Chyhyryn to make an alliance with Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, prepared to recognize Ukraine as a Cossack state within the borders of three voivodeships (Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Braclaw), to be shown the door by the hetman and Cossack elite.

1923: Hart Proletarian Writers’ Union of Ukraine is established in Kharkiv.

1973: An oil pipeline is built between the cities of Talalaivka (Chernihiv oblast) and Velyki Bubny (Sumy oblast).

1980: Pavlo Tychyna House Museum is established in Kyiv.

1993: The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine registers the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, the European and Students’ Associations of Ukraine.

1995: Ukraine’s first certified regional auction center starts functioning n Zhytomyr.

2005: President Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine takes part in events commemorating the Auschwitz concentration camp where his father was an inmate.
