1917: Soviet rule is established in Kharkiv.

1920: The Eighth All-Russia Congress of Soviets is called to order; it adopts the GOELRO Russian RSFSR Electrification Plan.

1941: An underground anti-Nazi organization starts operating in Malyn, to exist until August 31, 1943.

1942: The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR institutes the medals “For the Defense of Leningrad,” “For the Defense of Odesa,” “For the Defense of Sevastopol,” and “For the Defense of Stalingrad.”

1972: Bila Tserkva’s Tire and Rubber Products Combine makes the first shipment.

1999: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine elects Viktor Yushchenko Prime Minister of Ukraine.

2004: “Yes to Fair Election!” rally takes place on the Maidan with several dozen thousand taking part, marking one month since the start of the Orange Revolution.

2004: Kyiv Mayor Oleksandr Omelchenko orders transportation for gravely ill residents, so they can cast their ballots on December 26.
