1932: Radnarkom of the Ukrainian SSR adopts a decree banning sales of potatoes in the raions that “maliciously fail to carry out their task of monitoring collective-farm potato stocks,” listing 12 raions in Chernihiv oblast, and four raions each in Kyiv and Kharkiv oblasts.

1990: Kyiv hosts the constituent assembly of the Party of Democratic Rebirth of Ukraine.

1991: Ukraine’s referendum reaffirms the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine; Leonid Kravchuk is elected president, winning 61.59 percent of votes.

2004: The Verkhovna Rada’s resolution retiring Yanukovych’s cabinet and forming a government of popular trust takes effect.

2004: The European Parliament holds an emergency session in conjunction with the political crisis in Ukraine.
