1661: Lviv University is founded (currently Ivan Franko National University of Lviv).

1621: End of the Ukrainian National Republic’s Winter Campaign (guerilla raids on Right Bank Ukraine).

1927: The 10th congress of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine, or CP(B)U, ends after condemning Trotskyism and national bias.

1956: The Ukrainian Agricultural Academy is founded in Kyiv.

1989: The remains of victims of Stalinist purges are ceremoniously reburied in Ivano-Frankivsk.

1989: A plenary meeting of the CC of the CPSU adopts a resolution reflecting the Central Committee’s attitude to the elections to the Supreme and local Soviets of the Ukrainian SSR, as well as a message to the electorate of Soviet Ukraine.

2004: The National Salvation Committee of Ukraine gives an ultimatum to President Leonid Kuchma.

2004: Secretary General Terry Davis declares that the Council of Europe will help Ukraine organize a repeat run-off vote, if and when.
