Winners of the second international photo contest called Faces, Destinies, Day, Century, conducted by the newspaper Den/The Day and Kodak-Ukraine have been announced. The grand prize was awarded to Oleksandr SVYSTUNOV from the village of Skybintsy, Trostianets district, Vinnytsia oblast, for the work “Lionka the Politician.”
In the Faces category, first prize went to Volodymyr RASNER for his “Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder of Germany” and the second prize to Serhiy BUSLENKO, Rivne, for “Thirst.” Third prizes were conferred upon the Lviv-based photo artist Vasyl PYLYPIUK for “The Twentieth Century Behind Us.”
In the Destinies category, first prize went to Mykola SMILYK, a photo journalist from Ichnia, for the work “Once There Lived an Old Man and Woman...” The second and the third prizes went to Yarema PROTSIV from Kolomiya for he work “The Old Original” and to Slavutych-based Oksana NEDILNYCHENKO for the work, “Latest News.”
In the Day nomination, Mykhailo PALYNCHAK from Uzhhorod ranked the best (“After the Flood in Transcarpathia”). The second prize was awarded to Leonid Bakka, Den/The Day’s photography editor, for the work “The Directory” (formation of the parliamentary majority). The third prize was won by Serhiy TVERDOKHLIEBOV, a Pryluky schoolboy, for his “In the Bazaar.”
In the Century nomination, Den/The Day’s photo correspondent Anatoly MEDZYK came off best (“Bill Clinton’s Legacy”). Second prize went to the Kyiv photo journalist Mykola LAZARENKO for his “At a Public Rally.” Volodymyr Bilous from Lubny was awarded third prize for a series of works.
Special and spectators’ prizes were handed in last Friday at the exhibition opened at Kyiv’s City N Gallery, 46 Volodymyrska St.
